Once Upon a Time...Love Bloomed

It's easy to say that starting my journey of planning my own wedding was the creation of Love Blooms, but that's only part of the story. The truth is, the seeds were planted long ago in childhood and were lying dormant until a few years ago.

I wasn't someone who dreamed of their wedding growing up, but I was completely obsessed with Vera Wang and Carolina Herrera wedding gowns. I watched The Wedding Planner and then wanted to be one. A string of rom coms with wedding themes were my absolute favorite. 27 Dresses. Bride Wars. Father of the Bride. I wanted to design dresses and plan events, and yet life didn't go that direction.

I got engaged in November of 2017, and couldn't be more excited to plan and dream and create. But planning a wedding in your late 30s, with kids involved, combining families...it's a lot! And next thing you know, the world shut down.

We delayed and delayed again. The world reopened and the planning returned, but the timing wasn't the best. So in the meantime, I started designing. I'm a do-it-yourself person, and I wanted to design and print my own invitations, but I couldn't narrow down a theme. We're planning a beach wedding, so I thought something destination themed. I created and deleted design after design. I struggled to find cohesive wedding items so I began designing those as well. No matching favors? I'll make them. Armed with my Cricut, a heat press, and background in graphic design, I made everything I could think of. But the realization that brides today can't find matching pieces for an entirely cohesive wedding theme, and you have to shop at multiple stores to find what could coordinate the best, renewed the original spark I'd long lost for wedding planning.

Only this time, I wouldn't be planning for someone else, but I would commit to making planning for others easier.

Besides loving weddings, I've always enjoyed stationery. When I was young, I had a personalized stationery set with matching envelopes, and I'd sit at my grandmother's antique secretary desk and write letters. Throughout my teen years, I had pen pals in other states. Writing letters was the main way we communicated when at the time the cost to call was expensive and required special phone cards. E-mail changed so much about the quickness of communication, but for me, it was never as special as a handwritten card.

The creation of Love Blooms was always meant to be an embodiment of my favorite things: quality paper, beautiful design, scented candles that evoke nostalgia and good memories. Items that tell a story and spark joy. It's been a long journey to get here, but I'm thrilled to be able to share the blooming of the seeds planted so many decades ago.

And in the meantime, I'll finally finish all the planning for my own wedding. ;)

XOXO,

Amber
